Close to 100 eager attendees rolled into the stunning Wilton property for this year’s IHC Bush Breakdown, Cooking & Camping Extravaganza, and what a weekend it was. From hands-on learning to belly-filling feasts and cutting-edge gear demos, the event was a full-throttle celebration of bush skills, community, and good times.

It was also great to see so many kids attend this year, getting involved, exploring the outdoors, and soaking up the campfire atmosphere. The next generation of hunters, bushcrafters, and storytellers is clearly in good hands.

The field dressing demonstration was a major highlight, drawing the biggest crowd of the day. Led by IHC committee member Felix, our very own professional shooter Jamie, as well as Hayden from Johnny's meat and seafoodthe session gave both seasoned hunters and first-timers the chance to get hands-on with one of the seven deer harvested for the event. It was awesome to see new and old members jumping in, sleeves up and learning the ropes.PXL_20250621_025337482.jpg

For those who missed it (or want a refresher), Jamie has uploaded a two-minute how-to video on our club’s Messenger group. It’s an absolute must-watch.

Over at the demo area, the team from Shire 4x4 had the crowd nodding in approval (and maybe adding to their wishlists) with live recovery demonstrations and a showcase of new gear, all while hammering home the importance of safety out in the bush.

Evolution Gear Hard Cases were on display, while Dog & Gun Coffee kept the caffeine flowing thanks to the generous support of Bar Pellegrini, who donated their van for the weekend. It was the perfect pick-me-up all afternoon and an absolute lifesaver on Sunday morning for those nursing sore heads.

As the sun dipped, Roy from Thermal Night Vision Australia stole the show with an interactive twilight demo that had the crowd completely hooked. His ability to break down the world of thermals and night vision into plain, practical info made for a brilliant session, not to mention a few people eyeing off upgrades to their kits.

As night fell, two roaring campfires lit up the camp, keeping the cold at bay while the laughs rolled on. Good food, cold drinks, new mates, and plenty of banter made for a cracking night under the stars.

A massive thank you goes out to the Perre family for once again welcoming us onto their stunning Wilton property. Your continued generosity in allowing us to run this event each year is deeply appreciated. It’s a true privilege to enjoy such a beautiful location, and we’re grateful for your ongoing support.

To the IHC Committee, a huge thank you for the time and effort behind the scenes. While members got to enjoy the fun, food, and firelight, the real work started at midday Friday and didn’t finish until 5pm Sunday, long after the last car had left. From setting up to packing down, your commitment ensures our events not only run smoothly but continue to grow stronger each year.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to our generous sponsors, demonstrators and helpers who took part on the day:

  • Shire 4x4 for their hands-on recovery demonstrations and showcasing the latest in 4WD gear
  • Dog & Gun Coffee, who kept us caffeinated all weekend
  • Bar Pellegrini, for donating the use of their mobile coffee van
  • Thermal Night Vision Australia, with a brilliant twilight demo thanks to Roy’s expert and entertaining insight.
  • Evolution Gear Hard Cases & Custom Foam Cutting, for showcasing quality protective storage solutions
  • Johnny’s Meat & Seafood, Thank you Hayden for your butchering skills for the breakdown

Your contributions helped make the day more interactive, engaging, and enjoyable for all involved. We're proud to work with businesses that share our passion for the outdoors, safety, and community.

To every member who showed up, joined in, lent a hand, or simply shared a laugh, thank you for helping make this year’s Bush Breakdown, Cooking & Camping Extravaganza another unforgettable chapter in the IHC story.

A special mention goes to Jason and Jono Gallacher for expertly basting the pig, and to Pon, Borgy, and Blake for their hard work with food preparation, cooking, and those unforgettable chilli sauces.

Your efforts, along with the support of all who attended, truly captured the spirit of the IHC. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
