Our May IHC meeting was held at the Towradgi Beach Hotel, with a strong turnout of members coming together for an evening of stories, updates, and good company.

The highlight of the night was Felix Nelson’s detailed recap of his recent balloted Wapiti hunt in New Zealand. Felix shared the gritty reality of backpack hunting in steep, remote terrain, offering practical advice on packing light, choosing the right gear, and managing the physical demands of multi-day hunts. His honest and engaging account gave everyone something to take away, especially those eyeing a similar trip.

We also heard from Pon, who was asked to recap his successful hunt in Maragle. As always, Pon kept things low-key but gave a clear and insightful rundown of the conditions, his approach, and how it all came together. Plenty of questions followed, and rightly so.

As always, we wrapped up the night with our ever-popular IHC Meat Raffle, with a few lucky winners walking away with some top-quality cuts for the weekend from our sponsor Johnny's Meat and Seafood.
